

When I want to make a flow chart of a complex (and potentially non-linear) process with multiple forks. When I want to illustrate a relationship map between various objects, or For me, the main situations where I will prefer hand-drawn diagrams is: Certain ideas and concepts are easier to visualize with drawn diagrams instead of typed text or a spreadsheet. Thanks to cloud services, these annotation versions are automatically uploaded and synced so I can seamlessly view them on my work or home PC’s. Now I feel like I’ve regained a lot of my “critical reading” ability thanks to the Pencil and iPad - without cutting down a few trees every year in document printouts. Unfortunately, this lowered my retention ability and comprehension ability. I also drastically reduced my note-taking. This is a complete game changer for me 20 years ago I would have always printed out documents to highlight and take notes, but over time I felt this was a waste of paper and ink, so I started reading all of my documents on screen and stopped highlighting. For my work I read a lot of PDF documents, and I use the Pencil to highlight sections and write notes in the margin.
